PARFAITS!

25 Jan

I think part of your journey with food and being healthy is making it yourself.

firstly, you know exactly what it has and you won’t live with the stress of “what if it’s not actually healthy” Sometimes, you may automatically think parfaits are the healthy choice, but don’t be fooled.

and second, making food, will give you more time physiologically to look at it, and know you’re going to eat it, so by the time you sit down to actually eat, you won’t be as hungry and won’t eat as much as if the food was simply given to you.

I think parfaits are a perfect example of this,

you have to cut the fruits, make it look nice (if you’re like me) and layer it up, THEN eat it.

again, by making it look nice, you will really enjoy what you’re eating and again i repeat WHY DO SOME PEOPLE NOT FIND THINGS LIKE PARFAITS TEMPTING!!!

i don’t add any honey in mine, coz i simply don’t feel like i need the taste, so i don’t need to add more calories, however honey is healthy in moderation!

instead i do use granola, rather than oats, which is not AS healthy.

WHY PARFAITS ARE A HEALTHY BREAKFAST?

1.If you put them in a plastic cup, they can be portable.

2.They satisfy your craving for something creamy and crunchy

3.vitamins from fruits

4.protein from yogurt

TIPS ON MAKING PARFAITS!

1.you can use a cream squeezer for the yogurt.

2.cut the fruits in smaller pieces so you can digest them better.

3.you can add some nuts, or dried fruits.

4.you can add honey, or cinnamon. change to satisfy your taste buds.

5.Make in a smaller cup so you can have less calories but will physiologically feel like you had enough.

so IN A NUTSHELL

parfaits are healthy but not always!

therefore make sure you use

low-fat yogurt, natural granola or oats, and don’t add up on sugar by adding a lot of honey or syrup.

FROYO – banana, raisins and walnuts

15 Nov

you know that feeling you get when you’re eating chocolate cake or your favorite ice-cream and you can just NEVER find the will to put your spoon down. each spoonful makes you want more and more and you just forget about everything else around you except for that piece of awesomeness in front of you.

The main aim of this blog is to have that feeling but with something healthy. now i always make little healthy snacks and i really do enjoy them. but i never feel the urge to lick the plate and demand more. until now.

i truly enjoyed this snack so much, i had half what i made before even putting it in the freezer and i really hope it satisfies your sweet tooth too.

1 cup yogurt

1 banana

1/4 cup raisins

1/4 cup walnuts

put all in the blender and blend,

put in the fridge for 2 hours.

and you have the most amazing FROYO ever! 😀

Different ideas to have your weetabix!

17 Oct

once i’v eaten the same thing more than three times in the same week, i can’t have it again even if it was my favorite food in the world. Food is all about new ideas, (usually, the weirder the better) it’s an art. so, it leads me to do some awesome experimentation. i haven’t come up with anything completely inedible and hopefully it will stay that way.

I absolutely adore weetabix, and usually have it with milk, especially when i don’t have enough time to make anything else for breakfast. its quick, easy, nutrition and delicious. but, eventually i got bored so here’s what i had instead.

WEETABIX WITH YOGURT, POMEGRANATE AND APPLE.

2 tablespoons yogurt

1 weetabix

1/2 apple sliced in cubes.

1/2 cup pomegranate seeds.

i think its a perfect breakfast idea as you get your protein, carbohydrates and fruit 😀

WEETABIX WITH PEANUT BUTTER – JAM. PEANUT BUTTER – BANANA

if you’re a sucker for peanut butter like me then you can try these bad boys.

cut the weetabix in half (it actually works if you do it slowly without getting all crumbly, shocking!!)

spread peanut butter on each side.

and then spread jam or some bananas on top.

simple as that.
